The website is operated by Stair Lift for Vets (“Stair Lift for Vets,” “we,” “us,” or “our”).

By accessing this website, submitting a form, applying for assistance, offering equipment for donation, making a charitable contribution, or otherwise using the website, you agree to these Terms and Conditions and our Privacy Policy.

If you do not agree to these terms, do not use the website.

1. About Stair Lift for Vets

Stair Lift for Vets is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping eligible veterans improve accessibility and safety in their homes through stair lift assistance, donated equipment, fundraising, community partnerships, and related support.

Stair Lift for Vets is recognized by the Internal Revenue Service as eligible to receive tax-deductible charitable contributions. Donations may be tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law and based on the donor’s individual circumstances.

Information provided through this website is intended for general informational, educational, charitable, fundraising, and application-related purposes.

Nothing on the website guarantees that an applicant will receive equipment, funding, installation, repair, removal, transportation, or any other service.

2. Eligibility to Use the Website

You must be at least 18 years old to:

  • Submit an application

  • Offer equipment for donation

  • Make a charitable contribution

  • Enter into an agreement

  • Submit personal or sensitive information

  • Act on behalf of another person or organization

If you use the website on behalf of a veteran, caregiver, family member, property owner, business, or organization, you represent that you have the authority and necessary permission to do so.

You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information. You may not impersonate another person or submit false, misleading, fraudulent, or unauthorized information.

3. Assistance Applications

Submitting a stair lift assistance application does not:

  • Guarantee approval

  • Establish final eligibility

  • Reserve equipment

  • Guarantee funding

  • Guarantee an assessment or installation

  • Establish a specific completion date

  • Create a contract for services

  • Require Stair Lift for Vets to provide assistance

  • Create a medical, fiduciary, professional, or contractor-client relationship

Applications may be evaluated using factors including:

  • Veteran or military-service status

  • Mobility and accessibility needs

  • Household income or financial circumstances

  • Staircase configuration

  • Property conditions

  • Geographic service availability

  • Equipment availability

  • Funding availability

  • Installer or technician availability

  • Program priorities

  • Safety considerations

  • Completeness and accuracy of the application

  • Other operational or eligibility considerations

We may approve, deny, prioritize, postpone, refer, or close an application in accordance with our program policies and applicable law.

We may request supporting documents or additional information. Failure to provide requested information may delay or prevent further consideration.

4. No Guarantee of Equipment, Funding, or Services

Our ability to provide assistance depends on available funding, donated equipment, equipment compatibility, geographic coverage, property conditions, partner participation, and technician availability.

We do not guarantee that:

  • A stair lift will be available

  • Donated equipment will fit a particular staircase

  • Installation will be technically or safely feasible

  • An applicant’s home will meet installation requirements

  • A project will be completed within a particular timeframe

  • A specific manufacturer, model, color, or configuration will be available

  • A stair lift or installation will be provided entirely free of charge

  • Construction, electrical, permitting, transportation, repair, or maintenance costs will be covered

Approved work, costs, responsibilities, warranties, scheduling terms, and project limitations should be documented in a separate written agreement.

5. Assessments and Estimates

An online application, photograph review, telephone conversation, virtual assessment, or preliminary estimate is not a final determination that a stair lift can be safely installed.

An assessment may be required to evaluate:

  • Staircase dimensions

  • Landing and doorway clearance

  • Wall, floor, and structural conditions

  • Electrical access

  • User needs

  • Equipment compatibility

  • Property access

  • Building-code or permit requirements

  • Other installation and safety considerations

An estimate may change following an inspection, final measurements, equipment review, or discovery of previously unknown conditions.

Unless specifically stated in a signed agreement, an estimate does not guarantee final pricing, funding, approval, or service availability.

6. Installations, Removals, Repairs, and Service

All stair lift installations, removals, repairs, maintenance, transportation, modifications, and related services associated with Stair Lift for Vets are performed by our partner company, Star Lift LLC.

Star Lift LLC is a separate business entity and is responsible for performing and managing this work under the applicable project or service agreement.

Project-specific agreements may address:

  • Scope of work

  • Equipment provided

  • Installation or service location

  • Property access

  • Scheduling

  • Costs and payment responsibilities

  • Permits

  • Electrical or structural work

  • Warranties

  • Maintenance and repairs

  • Equipment removal

  • Property damage

  • Cancellation

  • Safety requirements

  • Dispute procedures

Stair Lift for Vets may assist with applications, funding, donated equipment, referrals, and project coordination. However, all installation, removal, repair, and service work is completed by Star Lift LLC.

If these website Terms and Conditions conflict with a signed installation, removal, repair, service, warranty, or project agreement issued by Star Lift LLC, the signed agreement will control concerning that specific project or service.

Do not install, remove, repair, modify, or relocate a stair lift based solely on information found on this website. Improper work involving a stair lift may cause serious injury, death, electrical hazards, or property damage.

7. Applicant and Property-Owner Responsibilities

Applicants and property owners are responsible for:

  • Providing accurate and complete information

  • Disclosing known property hazards

  • Obtaining permission from the property owner or landlord

  • Providing safe and reasonable property access

  • Identifying relevant structural, electrical, or access concerns

  • Following equipment instructions and safety requirements

  • Keeping children, pets, and unauthorized individuals away from work areas

  • Informing us of changes affecting the project

  • Reviewing and signing required project documents

  • Obtaining approvals assigned to them under a project agreement

If the applicant does not own the property, written permission from the property owner, landlord, housing provider, or another authorized party may be required.

We may cancel, decline, or postpone work if conditions are unsafe, required access is unavailable, necessary approvals have not been obtained, submitted information is inaccurate, or installation is not reasonably feasible.

8. Donated Stair Lifts and Equipment

Submitting an equipment-donation form does not mean that Stair Lift for Vets has accepted the equipment.

We currently focus on accepting stair lifts and equipment that meet our program requirements, which may include approved Acorn and Bruno models. Acceptance remains subject to inspection, condition, compatibility, location, removal feasibility, transportation costs, storage capacity, demand, and safety considerations.

We may decline equipment because of:

  • Manufacturer, brand, or model

  • Age or condition

  • Missing components

  • Safety concerns

  • Recall status

  • Excessive wear

  • Water, smoke, pest, or environmental damage

  • Lack of service history

  • Removal difficulty

  • Transportation costs

  • Geographic location

  • Storage limitations

  • Limited demand

  • Incompatibility with anticipated projects

Unless otherwise agreed in writing, the person offering equipment represents that:

  • They own the equipment or have authority to donate it

  • The equipment is free from undisclosed liens and ownership claims

  • They have permission to access and remove it from the property

  • Information provided about the equipment is accurate

  • Known defects, damage, contamination, and safety issues have been disclosed

  • Submitted photographs reasonably represent the equipment and installation area

If accepted, Stair Lift for Vets may remove, transport, inspect, store, refurbish, reuse, transfer, recycle, sell, or dispose of donated equipment in a manner consistent with its charitable mission, agreements, operational needs, and applicable law.

Acceptance and transfer of ownership should be documented separately. Do not disconnect, remove, or dispose of equipment until arrangements have been confirmed.

9. Charitable Contributions and Tax Deductibility

Stair Lift for Vets is recognized by the Internal Revenue Service as eligible to receive tax-deductible charitable contributions.

Cash and qualifying noncash contributions may be tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law. The amount and availability of a deduction depend on applicable tax law and the donor’s individual circumstances.

Donors should retain all receipts and donation records and consult a qualified tax professional regarding their particular circumstances.

Stair Lift for Vets does not provide legal, accounting, appraisal, or tax advice.

For noncash donations, including stair lifts and related equipment:

  • The donor is responsible for determining the claimed value

  • Stair Lift for Vets does not provide an appraisal

  • A donation receipt does not establish or confirm the equipment’s fair market value

  • Signing an applicable tax form does not mean we agree with the donor’s valuation

  • The donor is responsible for obtaining any required qualified appraisal

  • The donor is responsible for satisfying IRS documentation and filing requirements

Unless Stair Lift for Vets expressly accepts a written restriction, charitable contributions may be used where they are most needed to support the organization’s mission.

We cannot guarantee that a contribution will benefit a particular veteran, applicant, project, location, or program.

Charitable contributions are generally final and nonrefundable unless required by law or Stair Lift for Vets determines that a refund is appropriate.

10. Cash Donations and Payment Processing

Online cash donations may be processed through PayPal, Venmo, or another payment method identified on the website.

Payment information is submitted directly to the applicable payment provider. Your transaction is also governed by that provider’s terms, privacy policy, and security practices.

Stair Lift for Vets generally does not receive or store complete payment-card numbers, bank-account credentials, or online banking passwords through its website.

We are not responsible for:

  • Payment-provider outages

  • Declined transactions

  • Unauthorized use of a payment account

  • Payment-processing delays

  • Payment-provider fees

  • Currency conversions

  • Errors caused by information submitted to a payment provider

11. Photographs, Documents, and User Submissions

Our forms may allow you to upload photographs, documents, measurements, project descriptions, comments, testimonials, or other materials.

You retain ownership of materials you submit. You grant Stair Lift for Vets a nonexclusive, royalty-free license to store, reproduce, review, transmit, and share those materials as reasonably necessary to:

  • Evaluate an assistance application

  • Evaluate donated equipment

  • Coordinate assessments, removals, or installations

  • Communicate with technicians, installers, partners, or potential funding sources

  • Maintain project and organizational records

  • Respond to your request

  • Operate and improve our programs

This permission does not authorize us to publicly use an identifiable photograph, personal story, or testimonial for promotional purposes unless you provide separate consent or another lawful basis applies.

You represent that:

  • You own the submitted material or have permission to submit it

  • The submission does not violate another person’s rights

  • The information is accurate and not misleading

  • The submission does not contain malicious software or unlawful content

Do not submit Social Security numbers, complete medical records, financial-account credentials, or unnecessary sensitive information through general forms, standard photo-upload forms, regular email, text messages, or social-media messages.

12. Medical, Financial, and Military Information

Certain designated application forms may request medical or mobility information, household-income information, financial-need information, or military-service documentation.

Only submit sensitive information through the form specifically designated for that purpose.

When Stair Lift for Vets begins collecting sensitive information online, designated forms will use Jotform features intended to support appropriate security and HIPAA-related requirements when applicable and available.

Using a HIPAA-enabled form does not mean that every Stair Lift for Vets form, communication, website feature, or operational system is regulated by HIPAA.

Any disclosure, consent, or authorization displayed on a specific form supplements these Terms and Conditions and our Privacy Policy.

13. No Medical Advice

Stair Lift for Vets does not provide medical diagnosis, medical treatment, occupational therapy, physical therapy, emergency services, or individualized medical advice through this website.

Information about mobility, accessibility, stair lifts, or aging in place is provided for general informational purposes.

Consult an appropriate medical, occupational-therapy, accessibility, or safety professional when deciding whether a stair lift is appropriate for a particular user.

If you are experiencing a medical emergency, call 911 or contact the appropriate emergency service immediately.

14. Calls, Email, and Text Messages

If you provide your telephone number or email address, we may use that information to:

Our organizational email and SMS communications are managed through Housecall Pro.

Where required by law, we will obtain consent before sending automated or promotional calls, emails, or text messages.

Consent to receive promotional communications is not a condition of applying for assistance, donating equipment, making a charitable contribution, or receiving services.

Message frequency may vary. Message and data rates may apply.

You may withdraw consent to nonessential text messages by replying STOP or contacting info@stairliftforvets.org. Promotional email recipients may use the unsubscribe link included in applicable messages.

Service-related communications may continue when reasonably necessary to respond to an active request, complete a transaction, provide requested services, or address safety and administrative matters.

15. Permitted Use

You may use the website only for lawful purposes related to learning about, applying for, supporting, or communicating with Stair Lift for Vets.

You may not:

  • Submit false or fraudulent applications
